WHAT YOU CAN FIND IN THE CENTRE
The Carers' Centre Hull is a charity dedicated to supporting carers, i.e a person who looks after another adult or child with a chronic long-term illness or disability. The disability may be mental or physical or both.
Since 1999 we have supported over 6,600 carers and those they care for.
The Centre offers:
- An accessible and reliable information point for cares on all issues around caring.
- A safe environment where carers can meet and relax to overcome problems of isolation.
- A place where former carers can relax and receive advice and information after a change in their care situation or passing of a person they have cared for.
We also offer OASIS, a service which enables carers to leave the person they care for at the centre for a few hours.
So that carers can gather together to air their views, we also hold a ‘Carers' Forum' several times a year.
Working together with carers, we gather and store information on service problems and ways to help so that others in similar positions can be advised on ways to cope. We can also pass on compliments to workers who are doing a great job and should be praised on that.
