Information For Carers

OASIS

What is Oasis?

Oasis is a short break service available at the Carers' Centre. Carers may use their break to access the free services at the Carers' Centre Hull, or they can take a break off site.

Who can use Oasis?

Anyone with an illness or disability who receives support from a family member or friend. They must be over 16 years of age and live in Hull.

How can Oasis benefit carers?

Even caring for a friend or loved one can be strenuous at times, and we recognise that everyone needs a break occasionally. By taking a break this can help improve health, wellbeing and have a positive impact on the caring situation.

Ultimately our aim is to support carers to take a break and we know how difficult this may be, so we try to be as flexible as possible.

What about the cared for person?

Initially an assessment of need is carried out with the carer and the person who will use the service. This allows the user to inform Oasis about how they would like to be supported and what they may want to participate in.

People using the service can interact with other users, take part in activities of their choice, or receive individual support or care from friendly volunteers.

All Oasis support volunteers are Criminal Record Bureau checked, and are assisted by workers trained in supporting people with special or additional needs.

For further details please contact oasis@carerscentrehull.org.uk or telephone 01482 225 078.

Oasis also has a leaflet explaining it's services  and can be downloaded from here
